Sir,

I have the honour to acknowledge the receipt of your Telegrams of the 31st ultimo, and the 5th instant, and in continuation of my telegraphic reply of the 10th instant, I have to inform you that the Executive Council, which I summoned in order to consider your second telegram, expressed a strong opinion that Professor Simpson should, if possible, remain in this Colony for 5 or 6 months to assist in the study of the plague problem during the period of its now annual recurrence.
